Three positives make a positive...right?

If there’s ever been a sports blog/website that has bombarded you with opinion overload…it’s going to be WhatWouldBudDo.com today. It’s been a while since we’ve put any content on the site as we’ve been tweaking some behind the scenes stuff. So…what better way to update the site, than with some content regarding THE TIMBERWOLVES! I know, I know…booooring. But let’s focus on the positives that happened over the past couple days.

Let’s start with the draft. With no surprise, the Timberwolves selected Derrick Williams out of Arizona with the 2nd overall pick. We must remember that we drafted DERRICK WILLIAMS with the 2nd pick…because he is arguably the best prospect in the draft. When was the last time the Wolves were able to brag about landing someone like that? For now, let’s enjoy the talent while we still have it (and before Kahn trades it). Remember…focus on the positives.

I like Derrick Williams…a lot. Because I like guys who can make things happen. That brings up the next bit of positive news: RICKY RUBIO! Yes, “Rubio Fever” might have been a little overboard and a little premature. But guess what? Who cares! Rubio makes things happen. Everyone that has played or coached Rubio has nothing but positive things to say about him…and they don’t HAVE to say anything nice about him. Maybe he’s not a great shooter…but neither was Jason Kidd. He may not be overly quick…but neither was Steve Nash. Surround a TRUE point guard with talent, and he only has to manage the floor. I personally believe that Rubio can do that with how he views the way the game of basketball should be played. Derrick Williams…plus Ricky Rubio? We call that an UPGRADE. There can’t be more positives right??

Wrong, there is the firing of Kurt Rambis. You never like to see someone get fired (ok, it was pretty awesome to see Brad Childress get fired), but Rambis had to go. When will owners in this damn town learn that stubborn, boring, A-holes are NOT the right choice of head coach? I don’t need to spend much time on Rambis because he did nothing to improve this young team. Nothing. He thought he was too good to be the coach of the little ol’ timberpuppies. The biggest challenge for David Kahn now becomes finding the right coach. No one can sit here and predict who the best option is…but a guy like Sam Mitchell would seem to be someone excited to work with a young team. That’s just my opinion (though I do think it’s a popular one), but does anyone WANT to work for David Kahn? That’s the real question.

Overall, us Timberwolves fans, can focus on the positives above. The upside to these 3 positives? There is no arguing that there is more excitement heading in to next season (assuming there is one), than there was at this time the past two seasons. And for that…it was a good week for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Does that mean it will be a positive season? Hell no. But let’s have fun with it in the mean time ay?
